Gospel Fit
                                          Inspiring African American Wellness.

                                 Unifying body, mind and spirit.

The Challenge
We hope you decide to join the Gospel Fit Challenge.  You have been blessed by God’s grace and God will be with you as work to reach all of your goals.  Sometimes your health and fitness goals are not easily met.  The Gospel Fit Challenge will unite members through the Black church as we improve the health and fitness of the participants and the community to provide information, education and support.  In addition to following a heart healthy diet and exercise plan, participants will participate in competitions that will reinforce health and fitness goals.

Gospel Fit Challenge is an eight week, mind, body and spirit challenge to:
  • improve health
  • increase strength
  • enhance focus
The Plan

Blessings – List 5 blessings. Begin each day acknowledging that God continues to bless you.  You are blessed in this very moment exactly as you are.  God loves you as you are and will work with you as you become even better.

Bible Verse – Meditate on the verse of the day.

Prayer Journal – Write a daily entry.  Tell of your success, your challenges, and your realizations.  This is a documentation of your day or your vision of your future.

Exercise – The goal is to move each day, except Sunday, with purpose and determination.  There should be at least 3 days of aerobic activity lasting a minimum of 30 minutes.  In addition, add 2 strength training days to your plan.  Spending time stretching counts for daily exercise. No matter your fitness level, you should challenge yourself.  Short intervals of intensity are extremely beneficial.

Diet - Any well balanced diet should be the foundation of your eating plan.  The American Heart Association recommendations are the basis of this plan.
